The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.
This first 3 books started with a whole new aspect of the vampires, romanticizing them, makeng them more appealing. Rice's novels are very eroctic and dark, she revolves around different taboos in her stories.
The charactes are well developed and we can see from the classic "vampire with soul" to more brutal and senseless characters, like Lestat in his early years.
In any case these novels are for those who are looking for some interesting fiction that doesn't resemble what we see in nowadays theaters. Yes, precocious pubert models in the middle of their self-discovery with existensial issues that twinkle in gold when exposed to the sun... ¬¬
